What are Sprinkler Pumps?
To find out the correct size of the sprinkler pump for your sprinkler system, you must calculate the gallons of water per minute that the individual sprinkler head discharges at a particular PSI requirement. Ideally, six to eight sprinkler heads are recommended per zone. For instance, for a system with a 35 PSI requirement, seven sprinkler heads yielding three gallons of water per minute per sprinkler head will need a 21-gallon pump at the required PSI of 35. The following is one of the most sought-after sprinkler pumps ever manufactured: The Wayne Cast Iron Lawn Sprinkler Pump for High Pressure Systems -- 2HP, Model No. WLS200 The WLS series of sprinkler pumps are generally used for large water volume requirements, such as an underground sprinkling system operation; for drawing water from a well, lake or pond for irrigating purposes; and for filling up a pool. The motors of these sprinkler pumps are thermally coated to avoid overheating. They are factory-wired at 230 volts and with two-horsepower strength. The WLS series of sprinkler pumps can function as a portable sprinkler or water transfer pump. They even have a single stage motor with a self-priming pump. The motors turn at an average speed of 3,450 revolutions per minute. The housing of these sprinkler pumps is made of cast iron, while the shaft is made of stainless steel. The maximum suction lift is 25 feet and maximum PSI is 50.They have a 2-inch NPT discharge port that moves up to 5,250 GPH. The impeller and diffuser are made of glass-reinforced thermoplastic, thus making them rust-proof. The seal, on the other hand, is of ceramic or carbon-faced material to last many years of service. Pumps for Lawn Sprinklers Sprinkler pumps are used for pumping water to lawn and garden sprinklers or for filling a pool with water. They operate on a heavy-duty dual voltage motor, pre-wired at 230 volts, and are equipped with an EZ selector switch. The body is encased in a rugged cast iron and bracket for trouble-free operation.
